A lot has changed since becoming a Mom but one thing I am trying to preserve is my passion for fashion. Although the way I look at pieces I purchase now may have a different agenda then it used to (i.e. this would look cute at happy hour vs. this would be easy to nurse in and maybe wouldn’t show spit up or slobber too much) my sense of casual, flirty and fun are trying to remain intact!
I was eyeing this fabulous polka dot maxi skirt on Groopdealz (and low and behold it’s back on flash sale now!!) for some time and finally bit the bullet and bought it when I was pregnant. I thought it would make a great piece for having maternity photos done. Unfortunately the maternity photos never happened so I decided what better way to make up for it than to have a little photoshoot WITH River!
I love this skirt. It’s so fun and flows beautifully and the polka dots make me feel oh-so-feminine and cute! Jewelry used to be my favorite accessory to make an outfit really stand but now, as you can see, River pulls on everything I wear. I try to keep my jewelry simple and pick clothing pieces that speak for themselves. This skirt does JUST that!
With this outfit I just gravitated right towards the classic pearls. I normally don’t go too matchy matchy but it just worked here for me all the way down to the earrings, bracelet and necklace.
I am petite at a whole 4’10” and have a very blessed rack (so to speak) so I have to make sure when I pick longer pieces I flatter my waist line so it doesn’t chop me in half. I decided to tie my little tee at the waist instead of tucking it in to give it a little different look.
Add a felt hat and transition this piece right into Fall!
